In action...
Brianna just starting doing this funny thing with her mouth. Sometimes she just opens and closes her mouth and sometimes she adds "a song" like here. =)

Standing up!!
Brianna was sitting in her little wood chair playing her "Grand Piano" when she lunged forward and pulled herself up to standing on the piano! I was shocked. It happened so fast. Then she pulled herself/walked around the piano (with a little balance support from me) to get to the fun stuff on the back of it. She's going to be mobile soon!

Spider Story
So, most of you probably know I have a pretty bad fear/phobia of spiders. I had recently decided that I really need to get over it for Brianna's sake...and Jeremy's so there aren't two people in the house freaking out over a spider. After this morning I decided I am NOT up for the challenge.
A few days ago I noticed this freaky black, furry spider on the ceiling in the living room. Since it's a cathedral ceiling there was really nothing I could do about it I took a deep breath and ignored it, kept my eye on it, but ignored it (ha, ha). Then it disappearred for a couple days only to resurface this morning on my dining room table where I sat down to have my breakfast. I let out a yelp and jumped back which sent the dining room chair crashing to the floor. I was in a panic. What do I do?! Save my breakfast first!! Okay, breakfast is safe. Now, Casey, whatever you do don't let it out of your sight...and find something, anything to throw on it. I ran about it a tizzy for a minute and found Jeremy's Crutchfield magazine (sorry Jeremy). Then I tiptoed around the other side of the table to find the little villan looking at me with all eight eyes and front feet up in the air. Then he goes (all spiders are boys) on his merry way walking around the edge of the table as if to laugh in my face. I didn't dare make an attack for fear of missing him giving him the advantage to attack my feet. Okay, my chance was coming he was moving up on the table but no, not on my Mother's day card. I can't smoosh him on my first Mother's Day card. Well, I felt it was my only chance so I took it. SMACK! I threw the magazine down sending the crumpled spider and the magazine flying onto the chair...where they both stay because I am still too afraid of a dead spider to pick them up. The card is safe for those of you who were worried. Seriously, I need therapy. As for Brianna, she was sleeping this time so she has yet to witness her Mom's hysteria over something smaller than her own toe. -Casey

Goofball...
I was trying to sneak up on her to get a photo of her reaching down and playing with her feet. She caught me so this is what I got. I think it's actually way cuter.

Brianna update...
I thought I would give an update on some of the things Brianna is up to these days. Mostly for the Texans that don't get to see her...
Brianna had her 6 month appointment today. She is 17 lbs 9 oz and 27.5 inches long. She had two shots today and only cried for a few seconds. She is wearing some 6-9 month clothes but a lot of 12 month clothes already. We can't believe how fast she is growing. She is still primary nursing but is also eating cereal and has now had prunes and sweet potatoes. She likes it all. She is getting her next set of teeth. It seems it's going to be the top two, but we'll see.
Brianna can sit up on her own. In fact, she has sat in the grocery cart like a big girl for two weeks now. We've only had two wipe outs. Once she actually fell asleep in the cart and slumped over. She didn't even wake up when she hit the side of the cart. She went down for a nap as soon as we got home! She still does not like to be on her belly at all. We've been really trying to encourage her tummy time by getting on the floor with her and playing. She can roll over (and did it a bunch a few weeks ago), but really isn't interested in doing so anymore.
She is such a little ham. Wherever we take her she smiles and laughs at everyone. When people talk to her she smiles and then hides her face in our shoulders like she is shy. Then she peeks up and does it all over again. She loves to swing and be tossed around. We think she is going to be a roller coaster rider like her Mom and Dad. She likes her books...to read and to eat and loves her toys...of course. =) When we count we do it in English and Spanish and Grandpa talks to her in Spanish over the phone, which she thinks is funny.
What a joy and a blessing she is in our lives.
